Day 2: OTAVALO: The Otavalo Market

Breakfast at the hotel. We will pick you up at the hotel at 9:00 in the morning.

Full day – Otavalo.

On this day we will be visiting the town of Cayambe, here you can enjoy a very traditional snack, the “bizcochos”, which are prepared in a clay oven and served with leaf cheese, or “milk candy” (dulce de leche). Continuing our trip, a brief stop is made at the Lake to take some pictures of Lake San Pablo. The next stop is the picturesque town of Otavalo, on Saturday this beautiful town displays its magnificent weavings, which are exhibited in a market where people can buy the typical local handicrafts and weavings. Otavalo is famous for having one of the largest indigenous fairs in Latin America, where its skilled artisans expose all their handicrafts and fabrics recognized all over the world.

At the end of the tour we will return to Quito.

Day 3: Getting to know the marvelous Capital and the Baroque Art of Quito and the “Middle of the World”.

Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at the hotel at 9:00 am. Full Day Quito+ Middle of the World.

Guided tour. We will visit the colonial center of Quito and its churches: the cathedral, the church of the Society of Jesus, the church of San Francisco, and other masterpieces of Quito’s baroque art; we will stroll through the colonial center of Quito and the exterior of the Carondelet Palace.

Lunch in the surroundings (free)

Then we will head towards the Middle of the World, we will make a stop at the “0º latitude”, where a circular platform of 54m in diameter represents the equatorial line. The “Middle of the World” Monument shows us the most famous example of a city divided between two hemispheres “the north and the south”.  At the foot of the monument we will see a line drawn, representing the imaginary border between the two hemispheres of the globe. The most beautiful experience that our travelers will be able to enjoy is to place a foot on each side of this line, take a picture and have the best memory of their lives right in the center of the earth.

We will be exactly in the middle of the world, where gravity has a remarkable decrease, for this reason when the traveler is in the middle of the world his weight is less than anywhere else on earth.

Then we will resume our tour following our visit to the Intiñan Museum.

Return to the hotel in Quito for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Quito – Cotopaxi

Breakfast at the hotel. We will pick you up at the hotel at 9:00 am.  We will drive along the Cotopaxi road, where we will have a closer look at the volcano to appreciate its majesty.

We will immediately enter the Cotopaxi National Park, where we will have the opportunity to observe some species of endemic animals of the area (depending on the weather).

We will make a tour through the foothills of the volcano and reach the Limpiopungo Lagoon. We will walk around the lagoon where you can take pictures and immortalize the magnificent image of the volcano reflected in the lagoon. Remember to always do it at a slow pace because at the altitude we will be at, the oxygen level is lower.

Lunch in the surroundings

Cotopaxi is classified as a stratovolcano and It is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. It was formed with large explosions and over time with alternating layers of magma creating the cone shape we see today.

Once our tour is over we will drive to Quito and return to the hotel.
